Goal Focus: Setting Expectations Rating: 1-4 Comments: 4 - I can see where the lesson is going and how we will arrive there. Great Job! I enjoyed reading your lesson. I can actually picture myself going through the lesson with great success. Rethinking: Scenario and Instructional Plan Rating: 1-4 Comments: 3 - I really liked that they will interact with other students and share, discuss, and be exposed to other students points of view. A great twist would be from students who live in those Dust Bowl areas. Just a thought. :) Resources: For student use Rating: 1-4 Comments: 4 - I really liked the way you described what eachlink had. Great Job! Assessment: Criteria and indicators of success (for example, a rubric) Rating: 1-4 Comments: 1 - I didn't see one in the lesson. I used the ESSEA Rubric. Personal Reflection: What you have learned? Comments: My major is computer science and I teach Technology Applications in middle school. Even then I see this project as an opportunity to teach across the curriculum integrating technology and science while still accomplishing my goal: students using their computer skills to work on other subject areas. Students will have the opportunity to Explore:
This PBL lesson can be used with any subject area and the students will have the opportunity to be creative and explore real life experiences. |

Goal Focus: Setting Expectations Rating: 1-4 Comments: 3 – I can understand all expectations (objectives) listed, but from what I have learned it is best if you can use concrete verbs over abstract when possible. Something I need to fix myself, but the idea of a learning objective is to be measurable, and abstract verbs such as construct, develop, etc…are hard to measure Rethinking: Scenario and Instructional Plan Rating: 1-4 Comments: 2 – I like the general layout an sequencing you have developed. I would recommend looking at Phase 2 (could not understand what I was suppose to be creating exactly)and same for Phase 4, and overall I believe you are trying to teach tech. apps through the Dust Bowl PBL (I love all of the apps you have integrated)? Maybe you could create more objectives that focus more on your content (tech. apps)? Last thing, on the basics it says that the Prezi will be the final submission, maybe you could make that Phase 4? I would try to incorporate some vocab that has to do with your course as well. Resources: For student use Rating: 1-4 Comments: 2 – While the resources provided for the tech apps is sufficient (again objectives might should reflect for tech apps, and less dust bowl) I could not find any other resources for information on the dust bowl other than the videos (which are great), but it seems like the students should also learn to look at academic articles, journals, etc… Assessment: Criteria and indicators of success (for example, a rubric) Rating: 1-4 Comments: 2 - While a grade check list is provided for the Prezi, it would be beneficial both for you and the students to have a rubric set up for activities turned in that has assigned categories with point values. Personal Reflection: What you have learned? Comments: After reading the evaluation, I made serveral changes:
Overall, I think that I learned about what needed attention and made and will make more changes as we go through the course. |
